Finds every http and https URL and strips the sentence punctuation that gets attached to the end: the thing that makes hand-extracted links 404.

How to use the extract urls from text

1 Paste your text into the first box.
2 Choose what you want done to it.
3 Copy the result, or save it as a text file.

A URL at the end of a sentence is followed by a full stop, and a URL in brackets is followed by a closing bracket, and neither is part of the address. Naive extraction includes them, producing links that look right and fail. Trailing .,;:!?)]} are removed here. The limitation worth knowing is that a URL genuinely ending in a bracket. Some Wikipedia article titles do: loses it, which is unavoidable without understanding the context. Bare domains without a scheme are not matched, because example.com in prose is far more often a sentence than a link.

Questions

A URL at the end of a sentence is followed by one, and it is not part of the address. Leaving it in gives you a broken link.
